Designed for your executive schedule

The UCLA-NUS EMBA is designed to accommodate demanding schedules and minimize disruption to your career, with a flexible schedule combining residential segments and online learning. Our intensive modular format allows you to fully immerse yourself in a global learning experience which traverses the most dynamic regions in the world, unaffected by any changes in your career. Electives are offered during and in between segments in a variety of learning formats, offering you further flexibility to deepen your knowledge to fit your career goals.

Accomodation options for international participants

Residential segments are typically held on NUS and UCLA campuses or at a hotel with conference facilities. Company visits will also form a large part of the overseas immersive learning experience and will provide participants opportunities to gain valuable insights. Participants are required to be present during all sessions, which typically commence with breakfast and end with post-dinner sessions, which may involve dialogue with local guest speakers.

Classes are held for 10 hours a day during each residential segment. On-campus accommodation is available for international participants on a first-come-first-serve basis and requires early reservation.

NUS Core and Elective classes are typically attended by participants from both the NUS Executive MBA and UCLA-NUS Executive MBA programs, enabling you to further expand your network with other like-minded peers and tap into a wider, more diverse pool of experiences and perspectives.

Blended learning

Our blended learning format provides a deeper learning experience for participants. The benefits of this format include:

  • Enhanced, deeper learning – as participants have more time in between segments to read and absorb learning materials
  • More flexibility – as participants can take control of their time and schedule for self-paced learning in between segments
  • Richer engagement – with more time in the class spent on deeper, richer discussions with peers and faculty, as well as collaborative work
  • More time overall spent on learning, less time out of office

All our Core Courses, as well as some Electives, run on a 25:75 blended learning format – 25% of time spent on asynchronous learning, and 75% spent in the classroom. Prior to each segment, fundamental course content is shared via online classes or videos, and participants get to meet with faculty and their peers virtually. This flexible format gives participants more control to balance their careers and the EMBA, and frees them up to focus on deeper learning during the segments.

Format Description
IP In Person: All classes require students to attend in person.
DM Dual Mode: Classes occur live with option to attend in-person (strongly encouraged) or join remotely.
BL Blended Learning: Combination of online and in-person classes.
– Online can be on-demand pre-recorded content or live synchronous online class sessions.
– In-person are classes that require you to attend the classes live in-country.
OL Online: All content is delivered remotely through on-demand pre-recorded content or live synchronous online class sessions. Some online classes may have a combination of on-demand and synchronous sessions.

This module explores the evolving dynamics of the global and Asian economies, emphasizing increased integration and the growing economic importance of Asia. It addresses emerging macroeconomic risks in the post-pandemic era, such as trade tensions and inflation uncertainties, providing students with tools from modern international macroeconomics and finance to analyze economic information and formulate strategic decisions in a volatile global landscape.

Surveys statistical model building, with emphasis on managerial interpretation of statistical summary of data. Classical statistics covered through multiple regression to support courses in finance and marketing that follow. Fundamental approaches to decision making under uncertainty.

In the EMBA program, Managerial Economics integrates microeconomics with managerial considerations to analyze market dynamics, firm behavior, and the economic implications for business operations. The course covers fundamental market forces, pricing strategies with market power, decision-making under uncertainty, and strategic interactions, using real-world examples like coupons and pricing strategies to enhance students’ understanding of theoretical foundations and practical applications in business.

Familiarizes the manager with functions of accounting by focusing on use of external financial reports for evaluating corporate performance and use of accounting information for internal planning and control.

This finance course focuses on building a solid conceptual foundation by applying financial theories to practical challenges encountered by financial managers. The course aims to equip participants with the ability to navigate shareholder-manager conflicts, assess securities and portfolios, value financial instruments, calculate project costs, and evaluate diverse financing methods, assuming a basic knowledge of accounting, algebra, and statistics.

Effective leaders earn the respect of employees and can inspire, energize, and motivate high levels of performance even as the organization faces dynamic changes in competition, opportunities, and resources. This course is designed to introduce students to the concepts, practices, and implications of leading people and teams in organizations while helping students develop an awareness of their understanding, abilities, and limitations in managing people and organizations in an ever-changing world.

Analysis of strategic and operating policies and decisions for systems that produce goods and services. Examination of role of comprehensive planning, inventories, scheduling of resources, distribution systems, and system location. Comprehensive operating problems.

This marketing course offers a blend of theoretical understanding and practical insights into customers and markets. The program integrates key disciplines such as Marketing Strategy, Cross-Cultural Consumer Behavior, Brand Management, Digital and Social Media Marketing, Analytics, Business Sustainability, and Corporate Social Responsibility, promoting strategic thinking in marketing through experiential learning, global and Asian examples, and insights from the instructor’s consulting projects, covering core themes like Customer Centricity, External Strategic Alignment, Internal Brand Alignment, Marketing Due Diligence, and Purpose-led Marketing.

Introduces major areas of human resource management (personnel management, labor economics, labor law, labor relations) accomplished by examining major concepts, theories, and research related to each of these topic areas, as well as some practical problems for managers posed by each.

This course focuses on the core question of business success and examines the strategic responsibilities of leaders, applicable to both profit and non-profit organizations. Rooted in theories of strategy, management, and economics, the curriculum emphasizes analyzing decisions made by senior leaders in complex and global environments, integrating current events with a contextual focus on Asia and prioritizing organizational effectiveness over efficiency.

Business Creation Program (BCP)  

As an alternative to the traditional field study, a limited number of student teams may apply to complete the Business Creation Program (BCP), whereby they will implement a new business. Please contact your Program Manager if you would like to explore this option. To participate in BCP, at least 3 of the team members much have successfully the two UCLA Entrepreneurship electives (EVI and BPD) with B+ or better.

Management Practicum

Three-term course, capstone of the UCLA-NUS curriculum. Individual or group (four to five students) apply academic theory and tools, combined with their extensive knowledge base and experience to develop a comprehensive strategic business plan for organization or corporation.

UCLA Anderson and NUS offer various electives to support students in skill refinement. Half electives are offered by UCLA, and the other half are offered by NUS. Do note that there is a minimum elective requirement to complete the program. View list of electives and elective schedule.
