Designed for students from all four MBA programs, the courses expose students to a country’s and / or region’s economy, political and legal environments, major industries and businesses, startup communities, local culture, key historical events and the many different aspects of conducting business outside the United States.
Courses with a travel component include three pre-travel live, on-campus, in-person classes, followed by one intensive and immersive week in-country with a blend of guest speakers, fireside chats, panel discussions, company and startup visits, contextual visits, cultural sessions, and networking with alumni. There is one final post-travel live on-campus, in-person debrief session. The travel component takes place during the quarter break (i.e. December, March and September). While enrollment in Global Immersion courses is limited, typically a course requires a minimum enrollment of 25 students. The maximum class size for a Global Immersion course with planned travel is 40 participants. Travel typically takes place mid to 3rd week December.
For students with valid reasons, such as residing in Singapore or Chicago, in-person attendance at an on-campus class session may be substituted with remote participation. Each request will be evaluated individually on a case-by-case and course-by-course basis.
